Telltale Games Classics

These games are grouped together for the thing they have in common: TTres. No, Google, I didn't mean "tires." This is a simple but very useful utility that changes the hex value in a certain address in the prefs.prop file present in the early Telltale games' install folders. But it isn't quite that simple. Running the game before using it can leave values somewhere in the Windows registry that makes TTRes not work. The following are my experiences using this tool; your mileage may vary. Any not mentioned here will probably work, but I haven't tested them yet.

Bone

I grouped both games together because the fix works the same and they're the same franchise. Also, I'm lazy. Anyway, I don't know whether it counts as before running or after running because I restored it from a Steam backup and I'm pretty sure I backed it up after playing, but you can probably follow the instructions for Sam & Max Season One without a hitch. A couple of bugs include fades not fading the whole screen and the HUD still on screen during cutscenes.

Sam & Max Season One

I had some trouble with this game, personally. I happen to own the disc based version, and the instructions to run the game first are incorrect for it. This may be true for all versions of the game marked "1.0," but I really have no idea. Anyway, after you install the game, but before playing it, individually move each prefs.prop to another folder (Windows is screwy with TTres running in protected folders), which also contains TTres, one at a time. Then run TTres, click "read," type your desired resolution into the two boxes, click "patch," and place prefs.prop back where it belongs. Repeat five times. Run the games as soon as possible or at your earliest convenience. If you don't have the DVD version, you may still need to do it again after you launch the game, I can't tell you for sure. Keep in mind that overlays such as fades and the Warp TV thing won't cover the whole screen like they do in Season 2 and there are some rendering issues on the screen edges. There is no known way to fix these issues.

Sam & Max Season Two

I only used TTRes here for a specific resolution of 768p which is not supported natively. Widescreen support is built in. The process is exactly like Season One, if you have the disc release.

Strong Bad's Cool Game for Attractive People

Almost the EXACT same process as Sam & Max Season Two. I didn't try the disc based version of this, but if I were you, I'd try it before launching just to be safe. General rule for all of these: if prefs.prop isn't there, it means you have the version you have to launch first. Again, though, the utility here is only for custom resolutions, not for 16:9 widescreen.

CSI: Hard Evidence

The trick works before or after launching the game, although if it's updated to the newest version it already supports widescreen 720p. The strange thing is that this game shows the correct resolution in options, but you can't change it to 1080p in game.
